Glossary of TEFL Acronyms

K12 - Kindergarten to 12th grade: K12 (say "Kay-Twelve") is very common in the USA (perhaps Canada, too?) but the term mystifies many educators in Japan. It refers to primary and secondary school. In other words, kindergarten to 12th grade. (Note: In Japan, 12th grade is more commonly called "High School Third Grade", or kookoo san-nen sei.) K12 is not specific to language teaching at all; rather, it's a general education term.
