Height Converter

FACTS: People sometimes ask, Can I grow taller after 18? Can I increase my height? Does physical activity increase height? Unfortunately, the answer in each case seems to be No.

If you're unfamiliar with using feet and inches for height in English, here's a quick overview: If you're 5 feet 10 inches tall, and someone asks how tall you are, you could answer this way: I'm five ten. Another possible answer: I'm five foot ten. Japanese people use only centimeters.

The height of the average Japanese male is 165.5cm, or a little over 5 foot five inches. The average female is 153cm, or just over five feet.

The height of the average American male is 175.5 centimeters, a little over 5 foot 9 inches. The average female is 162.5cm, or five feet four inches.
